Coding for Community Impact and Service Learning

Future of Learning Hong Kong - Chinese International School (CIS)

This workshop will guide primary school educators through a systematic approach to designing coding projects that address real-world community needs. Grounded in three tested units delivered across Year 2, Year 4, and Year 6, the session will demonstrate how to blend technical skills with service learning by exploring practical applications focused on inventions, health, and survival.

Participants will discover how to guide young learners to move beyond basic coding mechanics toward building purposeful digital solutions for local challenges. We will examine practical frameworks for structuring student-led tech initiatives and connecting computing lessons directly to empathy and collaboration. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies, concrete unit models, and the confidence to launch service-focused coding projects that empower students to make a tangible difference.

AI Strategy Day

Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS), Penang

This professional development day at POWIIS brought together staff to align on whole-school strategy and advance AI integration across all confidence levels. We began with an AI Strategy Working Party, where key stakeholders established a shared purpose, reviewed safeguarding considerations, and outlined the school's long-term framework and philosophy.

Following the strategy alignment, session tracks focused on practical staff development. Participants building confidence in AI got hands-on experience with key tools, explored AI literacy, and reflected on safeguarding in practice, while advanced users dove deeper into sophisticated prompt engineering, critical judgement of AI outputs, and vibe coding tools.

Highlights:
